Chewing gum manufacturing shares many similarities with the making of its confectionery cousins.Leveraging these similarities and understanding the differences between chewing gum and other candies and how those differencesimpact equipment and process design are the keys to making gum on traditional candymaking equipment (and vice versa). Traditional candy manufacturers can then, with minimal capital investment, take advantage of ingredient offerings(primarily from gum base suppliers) and process expertise (primarily from equipment suppliers) to enter the gum segment using their existing equipment.
