Nuts have historically been a popular snack food with consumers.In recent years, however, nut consumption worldwide has experienced a significant increase due to a variety of factors, including increased awareness of the health benefits of eating nuts as well as a consumer desire to return to a less processed, closer-to-the earth diet. With this increased resurgence in popularity, food manufacturers are presented with opportunities to develop innovative, consumer-preferred products that incorporate nuts by taking advantage of the unique flavor, texture and visual appeal that nuts bring to food.
