For many companies that produce confections (or any other major food-producing sector), social audit is becoming a growing requirement. Many large retailers have made it a term of trade to have a social audit conducted, mostly at the supplier’s expense. The result is that a supplier with multiple customers is being asked the same question, in a slightly different way, by each of these companies and is required to complete a self-assessment questionnaire (saq) initially, followed by a full social audit.This is driving both audit duplication and audit fatigue across the industry
